Mate you're in luck - I
Mate you're in luck - I lived in Darwin for 32 years and fished the place like crazy!
If the wind is not too bad then launch your tinnie at Buffalo creek boat ramp at high tide, head out the mouth of the creek and turn left heading to Lee Point reef (about 5 minutes at planing speed). Spanish Macks and GT's are abundant this time of year. Troll lures/poppers at speed or anchor up on the edge of the reef and burley up. Drop some baits to the bottom on paternoster rigs and you will get small reef fish. Put these out as live baits under a float or use pilchards - live baits are better. Occasional black Jew will pick up your bottom baits too so it's worth having a bigger bait set on the bottom.
You will need a fair amount of water to get back in the mouth of Buffallo creek so check the tides.
I used to catch big spaniards and GT's off the rocks at Lee point so don't feel you need to sit wide off the reef - in tight is good
Good luck mate, I miss Darwin's door step fishing - its unreal!
