Fishing Cocos Islands

Hi all. Chasing any information on fishing Cocos. I have searched the site before posting but it's mostly older content so has anyone been there lately and have any good tips? Soft plastics were mentioned for Bones does anyone know what type/size etc TIA.

Mate that has fished there a fair bit for bones used cranka crabs on spin when the conditions were too tough to fly fish. His pics are on the cranka crab page.
Does anyone know where the love of god goes, when the waves turn the minutes to hours?

Pretty much my favourite place in the whole world.
I fished fly but buddy used crankas also for the Bones.

Feral Sharks
Fly Fished Cocos a couple of years ago. Great spot just a pity about the sharks. Wading the flats you'll have up to 10 sharks circling around you waiting for a hook up. Not fun having a bonefish destroyed by sharks right at your feet.

The little blacktips are thick but easy to avoid.
Key is fish the first of the incoming tide, the Bones will be on the
flat before the sharks in shin deep water. They then push in close,
right up in the shallows, i am sure this is to avoid predation.
If you do get one chasing a Bone just freespool and let the Bone run, the
shark usually gives up! We lost zero fish to sharks on our last trip doing this.
Alternatively fish Home or the outer islands, there are far less sharks over there.
