Extendable paint pole for gaff

For any who are using the extendable paint poles how have you found them? Are the joints strong enough? I'm imagining that they aren't as they're made to carry paint rollers which aren't heavy. Comments?

Always wondered but yer dont
Always wondered but yer dont think it would b strong enough, ive made my own gaff with a length of galv tube and stainless rod sharpened and welded, ground smooth, mine is 6 ft, you could do this if with extra lengths , nuts and bolts to join together..... If your in touch with a welder and grinder that is....
Jiggy jig.

Stano, galv tube is too
Stano, galv tube is too heavy for longer lengths. Aluminium better but unless have access to CNC can't get screw joint. No one seems to just sell male and female joints for diy. (niche market for someone) I've made some joints using plumbing stuff which is brass but they're heavy in comparison. Still it works. That said I no longer use long pole gaffs as I now have a cliff gaff. Neither perfect but really depend on where you're fishing.
