Exmouth/Yardie Creek
Hey guys,
Heading up the coast mid september and planning to spend a week or so camping, fishing and looking around between Yardie Creek and Exmouth
Will be our first time up that way, but there will be a few of us in pretty competent 4x4s.. fishing landbased the whole time
Just wondering if anyone could point me in the right direction of some decent spots to check out, no coordinates or secrets spots, just a general idea of what areas are worth exploring as there is a lot of coast to cover up that way and hoping to get into a few fish haha
Looking to take a big beach rod to send out liveys/baits, a medium rod for throwing lures and a flicky to catch bait.. not really equipped for any LBG stuff, but may invest in a new rod for the trip haha
Cheers

Spots
Pilgramunna is worth a look and Trisel access can be ok on the high tide if the bait fish are around.

If you've got the fourbys
If you've got the fourbys and you're camping - why not do the stretch from Coral Bay up to Yardie? Will be quieter and more offroading.
If not, Sandy Bay has some nice ground on the south side and you can fish the blue channels for queenies, spangoes and small trevors, flick a small placcy or metal around. if you walk north theres some nice inshore reef to wade out on (not coral but rocky reef) and you'll get some good baldies and spangoes there. Go find some crabs and you'll do alright. Otherwise the popular spots include Mildura wreck, Bundegi (the boat ramp is a bit of fun in the evenings) and up around the surf spots on the NW side

Crabs for bait
I don't know what it is like now, but you used to be able to catch sand crabs on any sandy beech at night and they made good bait for blue bone.
Just use a torch and chase after them good fun.

ALl of the above is
ALl of the above is relevant. Dont worry about getting another rod for the trip. If you are like me, yuo expecting it to be full of big fish and easy to catch. I wouldnt bother spending extra money. Use what you have, and you will be fine. Around the lighthouse/pilgramunna are both good ish for flicking plackies.
My advice is to walk, and walk a lot, like 20km in a day or more. Fishing as you go, helps to suss out the fish and get to areas that arent as heavily fished.
Fishing and catching are two different things. But i want to learn how to catch.

crabs
If you are chasing the crabs that spin all over the beach at night just bury a 20l plastic bucket in the sand with a bit of bait or frame in it.2 things make sure its above the high tide mark and get it early or the seagulls will get em all.Lightly hooked alive and cast near reef they will not last long.Black spot love them
just do it.

I'll be up that way as well in mid Sept.

Crab rigs..?
Jumping in on this thread....Heading up that way in September as well. What sort of rigs you use with the crabs, and what's a good size crab to use?
