Submitted by tailor marc on Mon, 2013-09-23 15:13
Well looks like im heading to Exmouth for 6 days in Feb. As per usual its not just a fishin trip but a photography and snorling /tours etc.
I know its cyclone season and will be pretty hot but any one know how clear the conditions will be that time of year providing a dirty cyclone isnt around . Hoping for clear sunny skys for my photography. Just hoping its not going to be pissin down all week like a wetseason in the NT
CHEERS FOR ANY ADVISE :)

I there's no cyclone, then
I there's no cyclone, then it's just crazy hot getting up to around 45 at times. We do one of our trips to Exxy each year around this time, mainly as the hot weather warms the water up and it can be pretty insane fishing, but it's also pretty windy as well. I wouldn't call it the best time for diving etc as once the wind does die down, the temp soars. also tend to find the bigger bities are out more inside the reef with large amounts of turtles around.

depending on the cycle of the
depending on the cycle of the monsoon you could be in for some summer storms, would be great to get some shots over the gulf as they roll across, wind is very dependent but i'll guess a westerly with a bit from the north again cyclones dictate a lot of that and as you've said it's gonna be stinking hot!

Hey Marc,
I had a trip up to exxy a few years ago .. mid feb ..would have to be one of the best trips so far, It might have been a little hot (6 days of 40+) but the fishing was special..fly fished most days and bait fished at night..never a dull moment ! even got to share a beach swim with a Roo 3mt away and it didn't care a bit.
hope you catch some decent weather and the fish and scenery cooperate ;)

P.S. Yandi creek and the canyons are good for a look with the camera(take a wide lens)

Too Bad about the timing
We'll probably pass each other on your run home.
The weather that time of year is great, I find that even with the wind blowing in from the SW you can get into the gulf no problem. There's usually a few long tail and other mid sized pelagics finning around, up around the naval zoning limit there's the chance of tangling with the odd big GT in the afternoon just as the sun starts to drop.
Have fun, the weather is usually hot but so is the fishing
