Exmouth - Inside the Reef at Tantabiddi
Submitted by TJ on Wed, 2017-01-25 16:03
Hi guys.
Does anyone know how shallow it gets inside the reef between Tantabiddi and South Passage? I thought I'd heard around the traps, you can drop anchor and wade around in ankle to knee deep water on a low tide. Is this where the Bonefish hide out?
Any suggestions tracking down some Spanglies inside the reef?
Cheers.

Exy spangos
any of the lumps on the inside will hold spangos we had a ball on them a few years back when it was too windy to go outside. Drive carefully through the area as some of the lumps come within inches of the surface at low tide.
My spots are so secret even the fish don't know about them !

Bonefish = flats. You don't
Bonefish = flats. You don't tend to get them around the reef areas. They prefer sandy flats areas, which there are plenty off in that area. Some targeted from shore for sure, but the better areas are easier to target from a boat drifting/elecky motor over the deeper flats. Easier to see them from higher up aswell and then sight cast at them. Not directly at them but better to cast ahead off them or where they appear to be heading as they spook easily. Crab imitating flies or lures best.
After thought - I wonder how those plastic bream crabs would go. Never tried this, but then have only EVER caught a very few of these trophy fish.
