Tides
Lots of dead time in Exmouth between tides - make sure you are on your ground around tide change then spend that mid tide time trolling for bills whilst looking for ground.

If you are bottom bashing,
If you are bottom bashing, you don't have to find massive bommies. The gold band snapper and red emperor are in the 100 metre mark and you just have to look for the hard bottom. On my uncle's lowrance, the hard bottom shows up as slightly thicker than normal. It is a bit hard to explain but after 2 weeks of fishing, you get used to seeing the differences. If the sharks show up, move on as you will be feeding the locals and won't get any fish up unless you like fish heads. I am pretty sure we popped in to Tackle World in the town centre and they will give you some advice on where to fish.
