Hey guys,
Just wondering if anyone has used scalies for bait in exy and if they produce? I have a trip planned early next year and was going to start stocking up the freezer. Will also be stocking up on gardies if i can find them.

sand whiting are killers for trout and reds
Scalies are to oily atractt to many little fish

Catch local gardies off tantas ramp and you wont go too wrong. Local whiting/ hardyheads/ gardies/ mullet are the go

used scalies and prawns while
used scalies and prawns while i was up recently, prawns got most smaller species. nothing touched stationary scalies and baitcasting got alot hits but hookups were hard to find. all shore based but did manage small bluebone and some emperor, sweetlip and spangled all small tho. tried fresh caught gardies but no luck, easy to catch tho! we caught them north of the town beach from low tide change upwards.

Free bait
Go to the bins at the filletting table at the marina and tantas, scavenge a few fresh bits and cut strips.
Heads and big bits for sharks!

Scalies fished in a berley trail
Have caught spaniards, dollies, sailfish, small black marlin, trout, longnose emperor, spangles, rankins, various trevs, longtails etc off Exxy and Onslow. They flash like big mirrors in the sun (provided you look after the scalies when catching/freezing them).
I rate them GGs.
