My epirb's battery is due to expire half way through the year, dose this mean a new unit.

I don't know if you can get them re battered a lot depends on whose' make of EPIRB you have from what I have been told

Depends on the make..... It is often cheaper to purchase a new one.
The cost comes from the need to run the EPIRB through a series of tests to determine if the unit is still functioning to specifications. It's not just a battery replacement.
