Easterly Winds = Poor Fishing?

I fish pretty hard & it's very rare for me to miss out but I've been drawing blanks since these easterly winds started up a week or so ago. I've chased Flathead, Tailor, Tarwhine, Mulloway & Black Bream over the last week & missed out on each trip. I can't remember a time when I couldn't catch a Black Bream it's been that long since I missed out on them. Looking back through my fishing log I can see a pattern of less fish when the easterly winds are blowing & I'm wondering if anyone else has noticed the same thing?

I generally notice the exact opposite. Doh.

Often catch a morning tailor with a nice easterly in summer.

Agree with that as well

Agree with that as well Sunshine. Have alway picked up fish on the breeze swing. Love a mild arvo chop but a bit harder to beach the boat.

Wind

An old bloke once told me when fishing for tailor- "When the winds from the East the fish are least, when the winds from the west the fish are Best". Don't agree with him entirely but there is some truth to it.

used to follow them...rare that everything lines up ...and even then it's still hit and miss...so even on an easterly...the best bet i found is berley berley and more berley at all times...

I'm familiar with that saying

I'm familiar with that saying Randall. I used to hear it all the time when I was a young bloke living in Victoria & it certainly seemed to apply over there. Going through my log though I noticed that my last five fishless spells have all come when the easterly is blowing for a week or more. When it's just for a day or two it doesn't seem to have made a difference but once it goes more than about 5 days it has had a very noticeable negative effect on my catch rate.

I find it interesting that others seem to notice no difference or seem to have more success in those times where I'm struggling to pull anything decent. Still, I'm not about to stop going out just because the wind isn't to my liking. I'll still be out there every couple of days regardless of the wind, moon, rain etc.
