Without being too negative
Without being too negative dude I would not bother trying around garden island. Ive done that a few years running, tried heaps of different places and got f*ck all. If your boat is big enough spend a few extra bucks on boat fuel and put them out around Rotto. Its a lot more effort but your chances of getting a couple of crays are way higher.

too early
you will probably find that you will be lucky to get a cray in a pot so early in the season in close, they usually start first week in December with pot's, but if you want to go diving if they are there it's good, so if using pot's I would hold off for now Cheers ACE

thanks guys
So thanks for your reply's,
Are they out far at the moment like five fathom bank or further. like you said Gaz : rotto
Is garden island area no good even when they are in close.
then first week of Dec should get them like how close in.
Rotto is too far for sure. Mandurah is closer for me should I try James Service area perhaps.
cheers guys for your help.

you will pick up a few on james Service, had pots out there a few years ago. Always managed a couple. Not great on sizes tho.

3rd Rock
Hey Barracuda, if I were you I would put them on the western side of third rock, launch at Carlisle street boat ramp, go out between second and third rocks and drop just off the reef.
Good Luck

My game plan when I get home
My game plan when I get home from work. Find some ledges along first contour line behind FFB and put em along the edge of that. Come start of December when the whites move in il move em out onto the sand maybe 30 to 50m out from same ledges then at Christmas bring em in close to reef/ledges just out from beach.

if your rocko put pots in 30 to 35 meters.14 clicks out, on some nice ground you may have .chockas at moment, mainly jumbos and few coral crays .weight pots to max. 3 day pulls all over red rover, good luck

30-40m.
that depth prob. need elect. winch. certainly if u get there and find pots gone , then yes all over red rover
for rest of year ,IMO target whites up close before christmas & then out deep 35-40m.
