I think its a shame that he is still idolised by the media. Sure he was an awsome footy player but he slipped up and ruined his life on his own account. Young kids now hear from media "ben cousins footy star breaks the law again" and the future footy stars are growing up seeing this as the norm. Stop seeing him as a famous footy hero and start seeing him as the walking oxygen theif that he is ruining not only his life but the life of his two kids, folks, ex misses and every tax payer that has to cover the cost of his constant arrests. Very true about the young bloke in Bali. It does raise the question though, what sort of tool carries around paracetamol in a drug substance style bag and takes it to nightclubs. Last time I checked paracetamol came in tablets from the chemist and had the label clearly printed on it. Probably trying to look like a party boy hero in front of others and it came to bite him on the backside.

As far as Ben is concerned the media should just back off and let him fight his demons, I have a close relative who has been through the ringer with this shit and has managed to come out the other side so there's still hope for him.

I've got one close relative that got through (albeit after at least one failed suicide attempt I know of) but everyday is a real struggle for him and have another who is more like a brother than a cousin that is in so deep I've had to cut all ties with him for my family's safety.

When this person was battling it we cut all ties as well because of who they were associating with, the theft from other family members and the constant lies and deceit. They ended up doing a 6 month stint inside and that was the catalyst for change. Thankfully a life turned around and a very different person these days.

The hardest thing you can ever do is cut out your blood from your life. I tried to get involved with the other family member and a few mates growing up but the only thing that is going to swing them around is them hitting rock bottom. Sadly I've witnessed and heard a few things about my cousin that is still struggling and if none of those are rock bottom for him then he is truely fucked.

glad to hear your relative managed to overcome their glass barbie demons. If my wife ever complains about me buying yet more rods or reels, I kindly remind her there is worse things to spend money on, like that meth shit. Fortunately I am sure most on here would suffer from a fishing tackle addiction more than anything else. Yes everyone has choices and those that get hooked on the hard drugs don't normally have it forced on them, but I have sympathy for their immediate family more than anyone.
Just st remember too, it's not always young males that get addicted to that crap, professionals, women, and even teenagers are just as vulnerable. God help us and our society in 20 years time!

The demerit point suspension starts 28 days after the letter is served, thats if he doesn't elect to go on the good behavior period, 2 point licence for 12 months.

I’d like to see drugs decriminalised and the black money taken out of the equation however that’s in the too hard basket it would seem . So at the very least , why can’t court orders be given that the likes of hopeless cases like Benny and half the prison population be forced to go on the George O’neil’s Naltrexone program so far as I can ascertain the implants have been very successful being that it nullifies the effects / cravings and lasts 6 months and costs $6000 . The govt chips in 3 million a year which is equivalent to a pimple on a elephants arse in comparison to the real costs this shit is doing in society . No brainer to me .
