Cocos Islands - October
Submitted by guido408 on Thu, 2013-09-12 18:29
Hi guys,
I'm off to Cocos Island for 10 days in October for a fishing trip.
Question I have .... Is there boat hire services there?
We want to hire our own boat.
Any info would be great.
Thanks

boat hire
Hey mate,
Lucky you. You can hire motorised canoes but last I was there (April) I can't remember there being boat hire. There are a couple of guys that will take you out for a days fishing. The tourist shop will help you out. Turn left when you get out of the airport and it's about 100m down the road. Make sure you do the canoe tour. Especially if you love a beer.
Your best bet might be to go to 'the club' for a beer in the arvo and ask around, see if anyone wants a deckie.
Good luck and have fun.

Been a few years since I was there (2007) but we did what was suggested above (go for a beet at the pub) and just chatted to a local who offered to take us out in his boat for a fishing and asnorkeling tour. Jeff was th. Blokes name if he's still there when you go. Old boy loves a beer or 20 (not kidding). Also just an FYI you can catch carts of the beach with a mask and snorkel piece of piss :)
