Cervantes beach launch
Submitted by mightymouse on Wed, 2010-12-15 20:25
Hi Guys
I am looking at heading up to Cervantes and as there is no boat ramp what is it like to launch/retreive a medium to large boat .
I have a 26ft F/glass boat with a small 3t truck to tow with does anyone know if this would be ok on Cervantes beach to retreive as the beach drops off quickly (so I am told) worried that the trailer tyes would get me stuck on the beach.
Has anyone on this site done this
Is there guys with tractors on the beach or at the town center to help ?
Thanks for any info

itsa not so bada
the sand up there is quite hard, and there is a nice drop off just off the beach, which if you sit your trailer wheels just on, makes retrieval pretty easy.
plus, everyone up there has tractors to tow/launch/retrieve their boats, so if you get stuck, just make sure you've got a carton ready!

crevantes
hey mate i launch my 18 ft baron up there all the time with no dramas, i dont even need to put the patrol in 4wd due to the hard sand.
there is a big fiberglass cat up there atm, it must be around 28ft i think, they seem to launch and retrive easily and they only use a landcruiser.
there is more of a drop off on the north side of the town jetty, i think that would be your best option.
let me know when your heading up as i work on a cray boat out of cervantes im there all the time.
maye we could team up and get amoungst the fish.
cheers, mitch

I will be up at the beach shack
on and off over the break depending on weather and commitments back here.
The best thing is i only need a half day up there to catch my bag if i need some fish. The old freezer is looking barren at the moment.I wont freeze any meals until the end of the xmas break. Will spend some time out wide of cervantes this year chasing billfish if they play the game and come down for a visit.
So tell me have you got your info from years on the water or hours on the internet?

ok no worries mate.
does your boat have a name so i can keep a look out for ya?
just had a quick look at the weather and it looks like a night fish could be on the cards for wednesday night, if your keen.
taking 2 boats out is always safer when night fishing.
