Casting wire leaders for slide baiting.
Submitted by Chris fish on Mon, 2012-07-09 11:14
I know this has come up before but though I would see if any new ideas come up, recently had a few problems with some big sharks swallowing the hooks and biting through my wind on leaders. I find this happens when I use whole heads as bait because I'm guessing they tend to swallow it rather than chew it like a whole fish or big fillet bait. So what I'm after is a way of adding another meter or 2 of 200lb wire before the stop ring to stop them swallowing the whole slide rig. The hardest bit is finding a castable join or even a join from 200lb windons to wire that the slide will go over.
Cheers Chris.

Wind on wire leader - sounds
Wind on wire leader - sounds odd but I have had a few in the past. same concept as a windon, just with wire. I was lead to believe they are a thing of the past

Yeah there not easy to find
Yeah there not easy to find at all and trying to make it castable without the force of a 10-12oz grapnel ripping the join through the guides and breaking them, because of the memory that wire has you can't have windons much longer than 5m if there wire and I like having at least 8m of 200lb before my mono topshot.. Short of using kayak rigs I can't find a solution to the problem
