Hi there Johnathon i didn't go to the camping show but I own a jayco swan outback 2017. I have myself the misus and three kids and it has plenty of room and is a great all round 4x4 camper mate.
We own a Jayco outback Eagle and the fridge is terrible up north and we are finding that the insides are breaking up slowly without doing any real hard stuff.
Its great to have A/C to take the edge off on those Barra fishing trips but we decided it’s time to look for a more solid outfit.
We've been looking around, but only have two young kids (3 and 5) and hsve decided to get a soft floor camper with a big annexe. We were toying with getting an Eagle Cheyenne, which will sleep six (queen bed with two sets of bunks), but I think the extra coin would be better spent on a new tub.
The Eagle Cheyenne is a bit of a copy of the Camprite, but about 25k less. It's one of those campers where the wings fold out, is pretty light and narrow when packed away. I can't comment on the longevity though as I don't know any one that has owned one.
We have one, two adults and three kids, but could easily sleep a fourth kid. Everyone up off the ground, no extra annexes to set up, excellent off-road ability very strong and durable.
We really liked the Jayco Eagle outback (2 Adults and 2 Kids) at the show. wife decided that's what we will get later in the year. I've since seen some bad reviews on them but also some good. Not sure now!!
None of the hard floor ones I saw would be big enough for a family, especially 4 kids. Soft floor seems to be the way to go for the extra room, and storage, but then has longer set up time.
Lots to consider. Let us know if you if you find anything suitable.
