Hi guys,
I am moving from Perth to Busselton in the next month or so. can anyone give me some advice on the fishing down there. Is there anything shore based?
I have a 4.20 dinghy, will that do for inside the bay? is there good offshore fishing if i was to get a bigger boat? What size do you think is the ideal boat for down there.
Cheers

Time to be prudent.
As you're no doubt aware roganjosh Geo. Bay has been under scrutiny to become a marine park with sanctuary zones in both the state and federal waters and until a decision is made one way or another it's hard to recommend what fishing options are available to you. I understand the Feds. might make a decision by March but the state appears to have got bogged down when the question of what benefits can be derived for having a marine park that we don't have already. I personally think your dinghy will do for now and lets see what eventuates later on.

Cheers mate,
Yer i have heard about the sanctuary zones. Regardless of that , what are usually caught in the bay compared to outside?

I've caught just about every species out of my dads little tinnie .. easy to fish gracetown and areas .. but the bigger boats are just more comfy

The best squidding I have
The best squidding I have ever experienced was from the busso jetty at night....funny to see the young locals come out of the pub at closing...girls all dressed up and in high heels, they all throw a jig in to get a feed to take home for a late night bbq...excellent stuff.
So what is a "Boston Steamer" anyways????
