tent mod's

more questions?

i have 1 of those oz trail tents, the light plastic type material one (not canvas) it is a two room type with 1 side a normal tent and the other just flyscreen material.

i want to know who can do some mod's to this for me?

i want to keep the flyscreen side but also to be able to have it enclosed like a tent, so i am needing 3 non see through flaps sewed in with zippers on each corner so they can be rolled up when not in use, or down when its raining or for the extra room.

yes there is other tents on the market with this set up, but i like this tent as it has sqaure walls and you can stand up in it, also it was a gift.

im not sure if motor trimmers can do this light fabric type of work? one trimmer freind i rang said all his gear was to heavy duty for the tent material.

anybody know someone local, kewdale, welshpool areas?

thanks in advance

It's a bit like someone telling you to buy a new house if you don't like the kitchen. Sorry I don't have your answer but maybe Google sale makers in Perth. One of those could well be of assistance.

Not realy

tents come in many configurations and getting one modified would far outweigh the cost of a new one as tents are cheap these days, I'm sure rons isnt one of a kind

My 2 Bobs worth

Sat, 2012-01-07 17:24

Most on this site won't now what a bob is!

I'm thinking that if its that light nylon material, then any domestic sewing machine will handle that stuff. I'm thinking 25mm velcro tape down the sides and under the conopy flap so its water proof. Then just make up covers to go over the flyscreen windows with the reverse velcro sewn in.

You girl friend should be able to do it, if you're married, still get your girl friend to do it. I sewed up a canvas bimini with a domestic Elna sewing machine, easy peasy (ps the machine needed overhauling afterwards though).

Spot on

My swag is set up that way. Velcro so I can go under cover when it pisses down or blows a gale. It's an Oztrail as well. This is not rocket science, it just takes someone who knows what they are doing. I recon there will be a positive report about this project. Be interested to hear it.

Not sure if they are still going - as I have not been there for years - but have used them in the past very reasonable

If they make other tent

If they make other tent styles in the same shape you could see if they make flys for them and maybe modify it to suit your needs.

Sun, 2012-01-08 09:25

Fisho-ron, I've got a mate was a full time canvas worker/ sail maker and now does it in his shed part time.  He has done some amazing things for me, full boat covers, swag mods etc and I would def recommend him.

I can pass you on his details if you want.  He is in Forestfield
