Burley & Trumpeter

Hi All,
I have been doing a bit of reading through old posts about fishing the southern flats and other areas in the sound. There seem to be a fair few comments saying if you are fishing shallow weed/sand areas and trumpeter are a problem, then use burley to get rid of them??
Is this correct or am I reading it wrong? Also does the same apply for butterfish?
Also any comments regarding the use of chook pellets to attract KGs? This also seemed to pop up a bit.
Cheers,
Jim

Id say not to use berley if trumpeters are a problem. Spread your casts around and move on after 30mins or more of if your not catching Kgs. If they are there you will find out pretty quick. Chook pellets are good

As above burley will concentrate the trumps and butterfish. I'd avoid it altogether if chasing kgs, just keep moving around until you find them

Blowies are worse than trumpeters on the flats. I would not use any berley at all. Like Jim said just keep moving around. Weed/sand hole areas seem to produce better for K.G's.

Trumpeters are a big problem
Trumpeters are a big problem but over winter not so much. When using chook pellets you will find the KG's love them, open them up and check inside. That said they fill them up quick so use sparingly.
