Buff Reccomendations
Submitted by Jackfrost80 on Sun, 2023-04-23 10:51
Can anyone recommend a comfy, lightweight UPF 50 buff that has decent breathe holes to avoid fogging up my sunnies? The Simms UPF 50+ Fishing Face Buff looks like best of the bunch from the 5 minutes I spent researching them but it's pretty exy. I had to apply the face melting skin cancer cream last winter and although I've started wearing zinc suncream I'd like to keep my face covered and my buff is unusable without taking off my sunnies.
Cheers JF

Daiwa
I've been using the Daiwa one the last couple of seasons, yet to get any sunburn on my face, and I did notice my glasses fogged up a lot less than before. With those ones, your mouth has to be on the holes to get the air out, so if you mess with your hat, or have a hooded shirt on that gets stuck in your PFD, it can shift it, and will need readjustment.
Link to one at tacklewest for price example, dont need to buy from there. Plus they do different colours

A few extra holes and antifog wipes
Made a few extra 2mm holes in mine with the fine tip of a soldering iron. Helped a bit. I then bought some glasses wipes that had antifog in them. Also helped. Pack of 20 was pretty cheap from Chemist warehouse and handy on the boat to clean off the salt spray as needed

I tried one with holes in it
I tried one with holes in it and I just couldn't breathe properly. I found at the Mackies and Exy last year that if I pulled my normal buff up around the ears and put a bit of suncreen on my nose that I didn't get any sunburn at all. I also started wearing fingerless gloves as the tops of your hands get a lot of sun exposure. It was great not to have greasy fingers!
