wash at home. you get to take your time and get it done properly, at the ramp or marina you gotta rush it. plus you can have a coldie or in my case a coffee before or while you do it
Yeah I'm with ya, I've only started taking my hose down recently to wash the trailer after launching due to the high maintenance of the hydraulic brakes, and so the salt doesn't bake all day while your out.
I've been washing at home to get a nicer job & so I only have to unload once, however I hate filleting fish at home. So I think from now on fillet fish at the marina & deckies help wash the boat while filleting happens.
I like to get home and not have over an hour of filleting and cleaning to do while young kids just want to see dad who has been gone all day.
Get home, hello family, empty boat & beer ...
Trouble is not too many deckies will wash a boat like a fastidious owner will...
but recently launched down at the Port Bouvard marina was only on the water for a couple of hours so I thought since I paid $10 I may aswell use the wash down facilities. Well what a difference decent water pressure makes. I reckon it easily halved my wash down time. Our water pressure at home is woeful.
Yeah I'm a fussy cleaner who even chamois the whole boat after a wash. I agree with you pay for the privilege to use the facilities and have noticed it makes it easier to give it a once over once the boat is pulled from the water, and then give it a good one on the front lawn. But if I have to fillet fish also is about a 3 hrs process
I prefer to do mine at the ramp but if there's a queue I've started going through the self service car wash on the way home and using their pressure sprayer which is brilliant but adds an extra cost to the day.
