Beach speeding

Witnessed a lot of guys speeding on the stretch North of Preston Beach this weekend.  In some places the beach is quite narrow and speeding vehicles come in close proximity of anglers.

This one was not so lucky!

Always must remember the beach is not a speedway....relax take it steady and enjoy the trip. Some places are easy to come to grief even when trying to do the right thing

Education

Mon, 2013-02-11 07:32

Comes down to education in the art of driving on loose sand, some think it is best to fly along and skip over it when steady steady would have been the go.

Unlucky

Mon, 2013-02-11 07:44

Get sick of these clowns racing past going as fast as they can, especially when there are kids around. Surprised there hasn't been more of happen to be honest. Worse when there is 3 or 4 cars in a convoy all doing it there is potential for a serious cock up

had it been the right way

Tue, 2013-02-12 22:48

had it been the right way up, i would have said it looks like (it was) a good rig...  should have learnt to respect it, and their own ability just a little bit more.  an expensive lesson me thinks...

Do a lot of beach fishing

Tue, 2013-02-12 23:13

Do a lot of beach fishing this time of year down at the 'Huts' south of Bunbury mainly to catch big Gardies for our annual trip north to Warra and I am amazed at the idiots that cut the beach up just because they think speed will see them through.

You can smell the clutch burning! idiots!

Yet the beach is so simple to drive steady steady with no pressure on your vehicle at all. Some of these idiots must have too much money for repairs...?

Wed, 2013-02-13 05:23

I see this a lot where I beach fish. One a couple of weeks ago was doing at least 70kph with his wheels lifting off the ground he was going so fast. my mate a bit further down signaled at him to slow down as he knew I had the boys and their friends playing on the beach while I was fishing. This dick slammed on the brakes and started yelling at my mate so i holstered the rod and was ready to stomp on this bogun if he tried anything. Saying that my mate aint small either. too many F%^%^heads around.

Most of them are on a break from work or holidays and that means you have to relax everything ------that includes the brain

Seen it the next morning

Was rolled back the right way up. That stretch of beach holds no demons, no campers normally in that area. Defiantly driver error.

the thing is , while i hope

Wed, 2013-02-13 11:31

the thing is , while i hope the ocupants of this one where ok ,
i wonder how many knob heads realise the issues this sort of shite causes ?

it wont be long , maybe a decade beofre all beaches will be offlimits to drive on or very heavily restricted acces only ,

i get fed up of seeing ignorant people doing really selfish and ignorant things especially on beaches with no regard to the future consequnces of their actions

people speeding along causing a danger to others, like the above possibly

people who park right on the water line , when they can see others with a boat trailer , who need often to keep low down on the hard low tide sand ,to prevent bogging even with low tyre pressure

people who take their dogs/kids down with them , and then dont keep an eye on em , yesterday had a 2-3 year old kid wandering around about 100 metres from parents, right next to the car while we are loading the boat back on and trying to reverse the trailer back into the water ??/wtf

people who park on the small or narrow access to beaches ,setting up day camps , kids , dogs, bbq sun shades etc, restricting others access , cause they dont want to let their tyres down and actually drive on the beach

people who drive around in coastal tracks at high speed ,or not in 4x4 mode , high tyre pressure etc causing unneccesary damage to tracks , and near head on misses every weekend as they stamp on the brakes and try to slow down before they hit you head on

thing is, if your out and about , enjoy it , have a few clues and dont abuse it , drive responsibly

as it is ,with driver ignorance selfishness its a matter fot time before we lose it

many do the right things , but jeez , many dont have clue

Driving in the dunes

Wed, 2013-02-13 13:46

The rangers from Waroona are getting very P*^#@D off with people driving in the dunes. Not just camping but the idiots who see how far they can get up a dune, the more this happens the more damage is done.                      Spoke to a ranger a couple of weeks ago when a couple of campers where caught in the dunes and told the ranger that these guys/gals had also been driving all over the dunes, all the ranger had to do was check out the tracks which lead to the back of the camp. Ranger said unless the offenders are caught redhanded there's not much they can do.

Don't see to many rangers coming down from Mandurah to control/patrol their end of the beach. Lots of damage being done on the north end of Prestons/White Hills.

Be good if Voluntary coast watchers could record evidence and past info on to rangers for them to use.

I agree that the stupid behaviour and attitude by a few (getting more all the time) will affect the responsible fisho's and beach users. See alot more 4WDer's on this stretch of beach just out for a cruise.

not good to see this sort of thing. The rods would have been damaged in the roll over, :)

hope the occupants are ok but maybe next time they might think twice about speeding along unstable ground like the beech. looks like one tradie that will be off the road for a while

jeez hate to think what you old farts did when you were younger?

thats right cars were yet to be invented, that rollover may have not been speed related considering the contents are all within a close distance of the car looks to be doing atleast 15kph!

The photo only shows what is

Thu, 2013-02-14 22:57

The photo only shows what is within 3 metres of the vehicle because it isn't a wide angle shot. perhaps there was a lot more spread further that you don't see because it is out of frame???

The original post said, "witnessed a lot of vehicles speeding..."

Grow up stilly, otherwise you'll be 1) a lot poorer as your vehhicle will be a write off, or 2) dead!  i hope for your family's sake it is 1).....  !  you have a very selfish attitude to those who love you.  think about how they will feel if you are killed in a vehicle roll over on a beach.
