an apology
well i said id eat my words if i was wrong about perth gts and thats what im doing . upon being some what inspired by the gold spot of rotto i did further research into how this can happen. i found that around 25 years ago there was infact a gt caught of the southern end of garden island that went an astonishing 52 kg! and there has been many caught since . on the rare ocasion that we get a real warm water flush that hits perth the trevally follow the boats from places such as onslow back to perth. other records also show that not to long ago 2 gts came out of the salmon holes down south ? go figure! also the biggest marlin recorded on the west coast went 1000 kg and washed up on a beach in esperence.
so nothing is impossible and i do apologise for me jumping to conclusions

possible
With the Leewin current anything is possible!
I've know of GT/Robinson seabream/cobia/red emperor/spangled emperor/red throat/ruby snapper/tiger shark/crimson sea perch/wahoo/spaniards/billfish/mudcrabs/giant herring/longtoms and even bonefish etc etc so yeh as mentioned.....anythings possible!
Ohhhh, except coral trout frequently in metro waters, they mean Harlys and some fight it!

We caught a great white last
We caught a great white last year, we were fishing near the south west bank and there were Sambo's everwhere, we would move to a different spot to get away from them but still Sambo's, double headers most were around the 10kg mark. We hooked up on the winch to something big thought it was going to be a big ray as it started to pull the boat backwards. As it came up under the boat all we could see was this big tail coming up towards us, the white had tangled it self around the braid and came up backwards. It wasn't huge only around 2 meters but owesome looking fish, we untangled it as best we could it set it free. Only one that I've seen or caught. Kicking myself i didn't take a pic.

I caught a white in busso
I caught a white in busso about 6 or 7 years ago. i was trolling for tuna and just happen to have some wire on one setup. it went 1.2m long and was green as when it come boat side. We pulled it out took a pic and showed the guys at the local tackle shop. they said it was rare as and possibly only months old. Sent the pics to fisheries and they even said they had never heard of one this small getting caught before on a line and especialy on the troll.
it took a 190 redhead, ill chase up the pics and post them up. Ive got them some where. Wicked little shark up close.
Keep it tight, reeeeeeel tight!

Makos
Was pulling shark net just out in front of 3 Bears [where they surf]down from Sugarloaf ,threw a munched up buff over the side when noticed a free swimming mako about 14-15 foot long swallow it.The buff would have gone 6-7kg and it went down without touching the sides. Was only 60-80metres offshore.
Got in touch with Fisheries Shark Research they said that in a 5mile radius of Cape Naturaliste has one of the highest populations of makos in Australian water.
On weird tropical catches, son has caught muddies in Moore River at Guilderton 6-7 years back and heard of them being caught at Augusta, also painted crays off Two Rocks.I got a large sawfish in the net off Bunkers Bay.
