Anaconda sale on Mojiko fishing gear

Hi guys,

Yeah, I know it's not big news, but Anaconda has a 60% off sale on all Mojiko gear this weekend. Most of it is shite, but for those looking for a cheap graphite rod, the Mojiko Plastix 1-3kg 7' 2" is pretty good, and the Surf Cannons look pretty good too, for less than half price. Haven't used the Cannons, but I have the Plastix and it's quite nice; Fuji single foot guides and reel seat. Finish is a bit ordinary, but performance OK. 60% off would be around $20-$25 I think.

Just a heads up for those who can't afford big brands. I have nothing to do with Anaconda.

Cheers

I got a couple of mojiko 6'6 spin stix a few years back when they were on special. Like you say Fuji guides and seat, decent blank, I like them, landed some thumpers including sharks and all for $30 or $40!

Bought a couple of their Ironbark graphite rods a couple of years back for the kids and they have become my go to squid, mahi and salmon rod.  Can't complain for $10 on special at that time and I wouldn't cringe if I close the garage door on them and rip off a guide like I did to one of my fav rods, or close a car door on a tip.  In fact they have been pretty hardy for all the trashing they get. Fuji guides and cork grips too.  Just have to choose carefully, some of the blanks weren't wrapped too evenly.  Went thru a dozen before finding two they that were even all the way thru.

You sure? You can't even spell Anaconda!

Yeah, OK, but I like to give a heads-up to those that can't afford big bucks for their gear.

The point of my post was that for 60% off they are probably worth it. I got my Plastix rod for $29; they'd be even cheaper under that sale. Maybe overpriced normally, but probably not at 60% off... Useable graphite rod with Fuji bits for the price of a basic K-Mart fibreglass job.

The guides alone on mine are $29 worth. If it gives up the ghost, I'm into rod building and they're good enough to re-use!

The Surf Cannons, on the other hand, were overpriced IMO so I bought a Penn Spinfisher BGS.

To enthusiastic  to get my post up! :P

I know everyone can’t afford smiths and Stellas nor am I premoting that. Just saying the Mojiko is cheap and nasty and is likely to result in losing some good fish due to faulty gear- As the original post did say 60% off all Mojiko stock. Actually I was having this very conversation with an old colleague and he said  some of the Rods were okay but you needed to be very selective.... Not my preference though.

On a side note  be careful  of the “Huge” discounts that retailers advertise.  Have a look through their catalogues and see how much of their products have discounts over 20%....... Then look at the branding and if anyone else stocks them or if its just an own brand as a lot of retailers mark up to mark down.

Oh and if your into rod building check out Matagi fishing workshop in Japan and some of the custome reel seats. they are awesome!

Cheers

I agree with alfred, mind you

I agree with alfred, mind you I did buy some mojiko 30lb braid at the same time as the rods and man that stuff is shite! I loaded my Calcutta up with it and tried casting for barra in Darwin with it. Made myself look stupid and all the black dye came off on my hands. Happy with the ironbarks though.
