Amateur mistake what a dumbass!
Finally landed my first fish today a baby salmon. Technically my second fish. Tha first 1 I caught, which was bigger got away!!!!
I made tha amateur mistake of taking tha fish with me to fill tha bucket with water. As soon as that f***** saw ocean he jumped out of my hand. I managed to catch him again with tha bucket only for tha little f***** to jump out of tha bucket. Talk about a learning curve!!! Was still an awesome day. I caught each fish with each of my rods so I managed to bust both cherries in one day!!
Last thing I caught was a blowie and I'm starting to think that it is a sign for tha end of tha day. Once blowies turn up it all seems to go downhill!!!!
Catch ya on tha flip side
Peace

You're not the first to lose a fish that way, so don't be too
upset (one FW member lost a whole bucket full one day).
Just keep at it and you will soon have a nice haul of fish to take home.

my dads mate scored a massive kg once (1kg+)
and he was washing it in the water over the side after cleaning it and dropped it in - we all watched it drift down to the bottom like a big silver coin and pi**ssed our selves laughhing - bloody idiot

I think most have been there
I dropped 2 red snapper in a row down south (both caught by my mates). Needless to say I wasn't allowed to touch another fish that got to the boat!

Dropping fish
I droped a 7kg tuna in the drink one year up at Exxy. Was hanging it over the side to bleed it and the bloody thing slipped threw my wet glove!! All i could do was watch it sink down deeper and deeper. Oh well easy feed for the sharks!!!!!!!!!!

HaHa!
Good one mate atleast you didnt do what my dad did the other day.
Got a phone call from him saying hes cleaning up on his anual trip(which i find hard to believe
)..
But he also said he pulled up a sambo on his brand new xmas combo that he put together.
Then he left the rod on the boat floor, fish on mind you. And the sambo got its 2nd wind and dragged his brand new rod straight over the edge of his boat.
He was nearly crying when my brother managed some how to wrap his line round it as its floating away, and sink a hook in one of the eyes of the rod bringing it back up, with sambo still on the end of the line.
Even how diabolical that sounds to believe. i believe it more than them throwing back 12kg dhuis and keeping the baldies.
Saying that it got a good salt bath and was wondering what sort of corosion resistance do we need to apply to it if any.
Its a saltist OH are they good enought to withstand a drenching?

Dhuey
Promise I won't use son Jeff's name, but on a trip out with one of his mates he dunked a spud bag over the side of the boat and gave it a shake to get it all wet.Falling straight out through the botton of the bag went a gilled and gutted 10kg dhuey.Mate reckons after the double splash there were two shapes heading towards the bottom and the silver one won with the bigger one running out of breath about 25 feet down.
He's never made the mistake again or if he has he hasn't told me.

not good loosing a fish like that, but now you have let your first fish go your fishing will only get better. the first big fish we lost that way was a 65cm kg, my wife couldnt even put her hands around it and wanted tio measure it , only prob was the sticker was on the side of the boat and you guessed it , it went back real fast . i estimated around 1.5 kg
