getting pretty sad, players self reporting, 3 strikes?? a club maybe all using growth supplements,a large no of players caught with illegal druys, its not a good look for the kids either

Evolution of society........ Drugs have been around for ages and is a part of society's social scene whether you like it or not, concerning for parents that dont know how to deal with it. Pressure on a club to succeed these days is huge, its a massive money market now, doesnt suprise me to hear a club tryin to get the edge. Problem is now, whether they find their actions to be illegal or not, everyone still will think the same....Poor Brendan Goddard, has walked into a storm..... The media, ahhhhh gota love their shit too, oh did you hear Buddy hasnt resigned blah blah, WC and Freo Blah Blah *eyes rolling back*........never a tv on at my house at 6, never buy the newspaper, dont listen to the radio either.....Dunno why they have promotional matches pre season either, and to no suprise, the big gun players are 'ruled out'..

Like the shooter who took caffeine (I think he was a Pentathlete) - well hello, to much caffeine makes you shake, not bloody good if you are a shooter. As for cough mixture and a diuretic, what performance enhancement are you going to get out off that.
Having dealt with ASDA (Aust Sports doping Authority) in the past when Rally Australia was asked to tests drivers the banned list is extensive, but doesn't look at individual sports. Some sportsmen and woman may indeed be hindered by some banned drugs. But its a minefield IMO.
Fresh on the heals off Lance comes the Essondon Football club etc etc.

AFL and sport in general needs to have a look at itself - they all test for drugs and then shit themselves and make every excuse under the sun when they find that participants fail.
Be careful what you wish for, you just might get it.
Sam Riley got banned years ago in Perth I think because of Paracetamol(?) because she had a headache - but did it enhance her performance because it got rid of her headache?

Drugs useage and abuse has been around in many sports, some worse than other. Has a lot to do with how and what the individual is exposed to. But when it's pushed/supported by trainers or mentors of the younger generation what chance do they have. The attitude of "I must take what ever to keep up with the rest of the field" is not a good thing. Most codes are bringing in very young players with no life skills and once removed from the family home it's easy for them to become "sheep". It's not easy for anyone to report that they have a substance use/abuse problem, it's not till they get caught, reported or hit rock bottom that something can be done about it.
It's very concerning that a person like the Weapon (if involved) could be involved with this kind of situation. Does raise the question about what he did at Geelong.
Agree with Tim-o about the media. Report the facts fair enough but they can crucify a person whether guilty or not. Wouldn't it be interesting if the camera was turned around on them and their personal lives.

No different to clubbers on shit in Northbridge, or blokes walkin along the beach lookin like a stocking full of walnuts, been happining for years, take the risk (illegal activity) to enhance their social experience or physical appearance, same as to take the risk to enhance your physical ability in sport, Like Lance Armstrong said, you have to do it to be at the top, cos the bloke next to you is probably doin it too.....Its not all doom and gloom tho, for those that can have a good time, legally or become HUGE by just eating meat and eggs for suppliment or become top level athletes and achievers in a sport, legally, good on em, hopefully they arent the minority
