Sat night Dhuie

Sat night Dhuie

Headed out for a fish offshore Sat night close in. Was getting a few Skippy when the Sambo's turned up nothing huge all around 60-70cm but still great fun on 15kg gear. My mate hooked up again and thinking he had another Sambo this guy surfaced, he was over the moon it weighed in at 7.5kg. We decided to pull the pin about an hour later and on my last drop of the night hooked up again and pulled up another Dhuie at 2.6kg so not a huge one. But what made all this awesome was it all took place in 6.5m of water only 300m out from the Swan River mouth in Freo. Apologies for poor photo too as we only had phone cameras.

Your looking cold mate. Good fish from six metres. I'm tipping the sambos went bloody hard at that depth.

You got it spot on it was those lumps straight out where the pots are. It was bloody cold but still well worth putting up with. The Sambo's were going off between the three of us we would have landed about 20 all around the 60-70cm size. The Dhuie's go harder in tha depth too

And so close to shore and shallow.

Next weekend there will be 20 boats on the spot trying to repeat the feat.

For me it looks to bloody cold, and I will go for a night fish up here in Dampier thinking of that photo, BBrrrrrrr. LOL
