I just got a hold of a couple of those pirates. What sort of jigging tech. do you find successful? Just long slow jerks like the Lucanus/ Octa style?

Yeah Matt, I found a long swipe and flutter was a good technique for them... kind of like the bay/octa jig style but a tad faster. You will have good success with them mate, no matter how gay they may be! haha
Change the splitty on the hooks though, not the strongest. Hooks are fine though!

Got smoked
I got smoked on the same pirate the other day when i droped it into a school of sambos first drop it was brad new never used it got pinged on the reef when it set off for china
