Nice Billy Pic

Just got back last night from a couple of days in Exmouth. Pretty slow fishing all round this year, not helped by the dirty water we encountered. We did have one OK day trolling and picked up this fella, a nice saily and jumped off an absolute horse well over the 200kg mark.

Very nice fellas, was looking for him all day too! :( Now I have to go back to work and the gulf is still glassy, sigh. Will be out there for his mate soon.

Fantastic capture
10kg line on that Billfish is outstanding! Great catch in what sounds like was hard work finding them.

thanks lads
I was stoked with it on 10kg, took about 45 minutes. I was worried when it went deep but we changed line angles and tried to plane it back up and eventually got it back to the surface, some good boat driving as well made sure we never had too much line in the water.
Length estimates put it a bit over the 100kg mark and it felt every bit of that lifting it up and in.

Top fish on 10kg
Looks all of 100kg and any 10 to 1 capture is a very fine effort. Well done.

jeff - we were in 130m
Mate trolled between 100 and 150 out from the towers. I had a feeling they may have been in shallower but the water looked better out wide. I thought it was pretty quiet by exxy standards but I think we may have had a remarkable run last year and this was more the norm. We were averaging 6-10 raises every morning last year at the end of january whereas this year we raised 7 fish in 4 days trolling and had very little bycatch, no wahoos, a couple of tuna, some dollies and one cobia.

So many
So many people got lucky over the last week, I know whitey raised 6 on thurs and landed 2 and saw a monster and there were a fair few over the tantas campout too. Can't believe I lucked out, spewn and this weekends weather is going pearshaped, sigh. Anyway, still a bloody good effort on 10, btw, any chance of that 250m fad co-ords..

sounds like Exxy is firing
Pity about losing the big one, but at least you got a couple of great captures there still. Sounds like Exxy is firing up at the moment, might have to pack the boat and sneak up for a few days.
