Nice haul, which FAD did they come off?
I got a lot of comments about last week's Sunday Times article. It would be nice if they credited the WAUC club for putting them in, with help from FW members and a grant from RFW.
For some reason scotty has now twice only mentioned the hard work of RFW (who supplied the grant), and catching fish off them, with Seasport Charters.

More than a couple of FADS up that way Till
Not all FADS are on the map with bright yellow floats and GPS co-ords splashed all over the internet.
So tell me have you got your info from years on the water or hours on the internet?

Very sad to see that you think that thumbs up is the right response to private FADs.
The existing FADs are by the community (PGFC and WAUC), and for the community. It's saddening to hear that people would put their own gear out for the private use, instead of contributing to the community.
There are also legal issues for uncharted FADs.
Thumbs down.

Gotta say I was thinking the same thing Jamie. Didn't want to comment as I don't have the full facts on what is up there. A bit narrow minded Allrounder considering a lot of people on this site cotributed to the supplyng, making an deployment of those FADS and probably won't even get a chance to fish them.

Didnt say I have a FAD out
What you fail to realise is until lately there had been no offical fads up that way and further north. As far as contributing to the community I feel I have done more than my far share over the years, without asking for recognition for it. That and the fact that when you rock up to the fads at the back of rotto there is a few boats that have no idea about the unwritten code of thier use and a few of them are freedivers. If you have a couple of boats working a fad with no issues and picking up a few fish, the last thing you need is a freedive boat pulling up and dumping a couple of divers on the chain and not only shutting the fish down also making it impossiable and illegal for you to continue fishing it. NOW I AM NOT SAYING ALL FREEDIVERS DO THIS,before the rants start, but it happens.Theres a thumbs down part one. Part 2 is seeing 2 or 3 boats using it to anchor As far as the legal issues surrounding personal fads as far as I am aware,if I have a cray licence I am intitled to have 2 pots in the water. No law about where I place them as long as they have my id on the floats. No law about how often I need to pull them or if I even have to bait them. Thats a thumbs up for the guys that make their own luck.

Didn't say you put some out, just a bit saddened to people giving props that people that do.
The spearo stuff and all the rest are just excuses, not reasons.

I will and always have given props to frontrunners
Anyone can follow it takes a different way of thinking to be there at the beginning of something. As Dodgy has said there a fair few around just not all over the internet for eveyone to see.A couple of them have cost the people thousands of dollars out of their own pockets why would they invite a thousand boats for a visit.

Its not that hard to jump
Its not that hard to jump through the hoops to make it legal. Even a few legal ones that have been put out but not widely spoken about.
Does anyone know where the love of god goes, when the waves turn the minutes to hours?
