Nice

They're supposed to be nice baked in the oven..at leat thats what i believed (I only ever caught small ones)when i lived in the uk, but given the enviroment they come from, still waters and canals etc and although you do get them in the lake district too and some of the cleaner rivers (if there are any left)I think they would be very muddy tasting they also have teeth like a big mackerel!

To all the virgins..............Thanks for nothing!

What sort of lure were you trolling? What other equipment do you use? I was just wondering if you use similar rods, reels and lines as we do?

Welcome

By the looks of the rods in the boat you're fishing with relatively light gear as well, must put on a pretty good fight.  Top fish mate and welcome to fishwrecked.

pike fishing

hey guys,

they're pretty good eating i reckon but it depends where they live... big lakes no problem, the smaller the lake or river gets the more muddy they are.

smaller pikes are usually a better feed than the old mothers. could not release this one, it swallowed a 20cm rapala 'grandma' and the only thing i could see from the lure was the tip of the head. had fish for a couple of days.

the gear we use is similar to the stuff you use for barra fishing, spinning reels and rods, some guys use baitcasters, i sometimes catch em on fly. on this trip this sort of lures were the ones that worked best:  http://www.illexlures.de/product_info.php/info/p32_Illex-Arnaud-100-S.html   sorry the site is partly in german :)

i wonder if these work for barra or GT...? i'll bring some over next time

cheers
