I always thought that the darker dhuies were cave dwellers and the silvery ones more open water. Still it would be good to hear what Ian reckons and whether they have done any official research on it.
My view is just a guess as I really have no idea as I don;t dive.

I've had that happen a few times too
Does anyone know definitively why they are different colours? I might have to ask Ian K next time I see him.

imo!
Schooling fish are normally silver in colour and the dark ones like this are normally residential. They can mix for sure, this is what i've gathered!
