I was down spinning next to those guys, and got hit by a wave that would have easily gone 2m over my head. Almost knocked me over. Was very cautious from then on.
They are just waiting for that big wave and then they start timing on how long it takes for the rescue boat to get there from 30nm away or how long its going to take the oyster and barnacle cuts to heal if they manage to get out.
Given that Carnarvonite and his like save our sorry asses we probably should promote his advice. Although must fess up that I was up to my chin with a swell trying to gaff a mulloway on the south side rocks at Dawsville 15 years ago. Missed the Jew and spent some minutes on higher rocks rethinking my values. Pre kid life, so was less risk adverse I guess.
yup. I was up top for a solid half hour, watching the waves and the school of tuna just out of casting distance. Looked fine and fishable to me, first cast I get blasted by a big wave. Typical. Some spots along there had no waves, so it was still fishabe to an extent. Never did get a lure into the tuna school either.

Wonder
And people wonder how and why fishermen get washed in off the rocks up Quobba way. The signs and little plaques are not there for peoples amusement.
The day the latest fatality occurred had very similar conditions and he was doing the same thing they are.

Carnarvonite makes a solid point.

Worth
NO fish is worth it, doesn't matter if it could be the fish of a life time, its still not worth a life trying to catch it.
