Yes, I finally got a boat!
So we finally decided it was time to join the boat club and get our first family boat (had a small one before the kids came along but have been without for 3 years now). The requirements were that it HAD to fit in the garage, had to have a cabin and shade for the girls, and had to have atleast enough room to fish 2 people. After looking around one of the only (if not the only) boat I could find with a cabin that would fit under the garage door was the Quicksilver Dominator 510. Did all the measurements and checked out the boat and after being confident it would fit (after having the trailer rollers lowered and flipping the jockey wheel up and dropping the front of the trailer down to get it under the door) we made the purchase! It's an 08 package with the 60 4stroke having done only 7 hours so basically new.
Picked it up on thursday and had to wait till sat morning to put it in the water for it's first run. Somehow we managed to get the family together and loaded up by 5:30am and we were on the water not long after 6am. Gotta love starting the motor up for the first time and motoring out of the point peron ramp. It was howling wind but we had a fun 2 hours catching a few squid and inking the new boat up before having to head home early due to kids party we had on mid morning. Didn't really get to test the boats capabilities out as we didn't go far but we were very happy with it's family suitability. A great compromise between family and fishing.
Also headed back out with a mate this morning and got to bounce through some of that easterly slop out from garden island and thought it handled great so feeling confident already that with some good weather I'll be out deep when the ban ends! Got onto some squid and a feed of whiting for dinner so another successful day. Still deciding on a name for the boat but if you see me out there say hi!

and plenty of shelter for the kids... Got to show the daughter the pic of your little one. She's looking for a way to take little bloke out with us when he gets a bit bigger. 2 weeks old would be a bit young me thinks!!!!

Yeah the little chair is a great idea when you're in a calm spot. Maia is almost 6 months now and she loved it, squeeled away. 2 week is probbb a little young, we got the smallest life jacket we could find for Maia and it only just fits. Not very practical having her wear it though, not when we were in calm water like that atleast. Made my 2 year old wear hers though as she was climbing on the chairs and trying to pat the pelican that came for a visit!

Baby bouncers are the go. Takes the shocks and bumps right out of the ride.
Kill tank also comes in handy for sleep time.

Cheers guys. Yeh it's not the dream fishing boat, that'll come when I have somewhere to keep it, but for now it's the perfect compromise. Very happy! Good to get the girls into it and keep them away from those tv screens! Just need some nice weather now to make it more pleasant out there.
SAS it wasn't me, I was driving down Nicholson rd tho? Can't miss me as my Pajero has GOODZ number plates.

Top choice!
Looks like a super choice for keeping the little ones safe inside too. Well done! I'll keep an eye out for you at Pt Peron, and give a wave!
Only a month to go till real fishing... time to iron out any teething problems you may have while you're waiting.
Bean bags are good comfy seats for kids too...
Have fun!
Save the Whales! May as well - they won't fit in my catch bag!!!

Will take her out there
Will take her out there sometime but prob not too soon, still got to become "one" with the boat. Also gotta get some offshore safety gear, which isn't free.
Yeah the pink jig rod is to keep her keen. Haha.. Nah Courtney loves a bit of fishing, she just never gets to cos of the girls and the fact there is never room for her when I head out with other people. Atleast now there's no excuses.. Will leave the kids at home when we head out wide though.
We will be the next Just1Morecast and his missus.

"As good as it gets"!
Only joking mate but was trying to quickly think of something with Goodz in it. Bit early in the morning and brain fade.
Great to see the kids on there, and no better way to get your sea legs early as kids adapt much better than adults.
I also have the same sounder and compared to my previous Navman units it kills the pig. Just took me a little time to get use to the various functions and new buttons to push, as you can become very use to an old setup, especially when yourself is getting "OLD".
Also from some vague memory I recall that life jackets in babies can actually cause them more harm because their heads are so big in comparison with the rest, they topple over and dont float upright. As soon as they toddle a jacket works fine.
Someone correct me if I am wrong.

Yeah I was thinking "The Goodz" cos it's the goods... but apparently thats lame.
Just finished reading the sounder manual so going to fine tune it with the advanced options next trip out. Seemed to be working great last trip out anyway, picked up plenty of fish on it, one big bait ball with some nice big arches under it which I'm guess could have been snapper... got me excited.
As far as the lifejackets, you're probably right. But I guess it's more off a thing to just get them back to the surface straight away, I'd be over the side after them if they fell in anyway, and worst case scenario if we were going down it wouldn't be hard to keep them the right way up.
