My Moonraker is still going very strong

Tue, 2010-01-05 10:42

It is my weapon of choice for the beach and a number of rock situations. The 10 footer is for the other situations.

Match your rod up to the reel you want to use it with

Tue, 2010-01-05 11:44

and hold it as you normally would when fishing and see if it feels balanced. Then try taking the balance weights off one at a time to see if it feels more balanced or not (does this make sense). It is a matter of personal preference in a way. For me if I have the right reel matched up to the rod I pretty much leave it alone.

i was using my 14000

Fri, 2010-01-08 10:39

i was using my 14000 spheros but found it too heavy/large for the rod.

managed my first catch on it too though... a school shark while chasing for tailor. lol

i would recommend a 6000 or 8000 size reel. I'm looking at getting one in this size range probably a twinpower or stradic would suit nicely.

good luck mate

I reckon you are bang on Rob

Fri, 2010-01-08 10:42

a reel that size would be perfect.

I run a Seagate 4500H on my 10' mastery.
