Woodmans point ammo jetty

Recently they cut off the two T's at the end of the jetty on the right and left of the jetty, due to storm damage from the last few big storms, anyone have any idea if theyre going to rebuild it or do something else with it?

well that's a smart idea i don't think
That idea of leaving it like it is shows a lot of forward thinking by the council i don't think. next it will condem the entire jetty as unsafe by their lack of possitive action to get it repaired where required.
Now if the jetty was some rusted peice of iron that cost a squillion dollars to make and errect and provided no enjoyment to anyone but was errected to honour some excentric arty type, then it would have been repaired the very next day without a thought of the cost...sheeeesh

well I have it on good
well I have it on good authority that they will be knocking it down as they are sick of the upkeep that has to be done and probably imo the morons that are attracted to fish down there and leave mess behind them

Election time
What happened to the stickers saying WE FISH AND WE VOTE? IMO this sounds like the best time to hit the local polly for some info

NO bins are even on the jetty what do you expect, the place is literally a dumping ground..
the only decent jetty in the whole entire metro area and yet they do nothing.. its a place for families kids serious fisho's to go to
and yet they cant even change a lightbulb on the thing.. fremantle ports you are a disgrace..
this country is seriously retarted.. take bussleton for example a 2km jetty while the whole metro area get a 100m one with limited fishing space..
no bins.. hardly a light.. no cameras to warn off thieves that brake into your vehicle omg its seriously a joke.. and anyone thats got something negative
to say im just gonna laugh at you so dont bother. anyone read that report in the herald about the place gangs n sharks.. ive never read so much Bullsh*t in
my life anyone gullable enough to believe that bs or want to pipe up about something they mite have seen and twist their story be my guest.

Community Help is Required
Hi All
A few months back I was posting about getting together anglers, divers and other members of the community to help get Ammo Jetty to a state where people can use it. I have now taken a backseat from this venture mainly because it is too expensive to get windows replaced on my car (twice), paint work fixed (scrathes and tagging) and after heading down to talk to some angers at night to gain support getting a knife pulled on me is not fun.
The cimmunity needs to get together. This includes not just cleaning the Jetty environment up but working towards bettering the culture down there so everyone can feel safe to use the jetty both above and under the water.
The structure of the jetty is unsafe and currently Fremantle Port Authority (owners of the jetty) are making elements safe for the time being. The jetty has been unsafe for some time; the storms towards the back end of 2012 did not help matters much at all. A few of our divers are alos marine engineers and through there contacts have found some information out.
1. The jetty structure has some issues and one or two good storms would more than likely make it worse.
2. The T is gone for good. There is a requirement for significant work on the structural trusses and a new concrete top is required. A rough estimation would be in excess of $2m. Considering the jetty is not an 'operational' jetty this does not come under Fremantle Ports area anymore. I believe they would like to offload it to another department but this may be after the election.
It should be noted that there have been lights and bins on the jetty before but it would seem that people woud rather burn the bins and damage the lights than have them used for the general public.
I like many other people would love to save Ammo Jetty it is a great dive and fishing site. But it the community needs to get together and help out to clean it up and show that if money is going to be put unto repairing it we as the users will look after it.
I'm afraid to say though at this stage I would not be too suprised if Ammo Jetty gets demolished.
