Woodies
Took a mate fishing out in the sound yesterday afternoon out from woodies boat ramp and noticed lots of window glass where people park their trailers, spoke to the caretaker from the power boat club and he mentioned that car's are getting broken in to more often and that he has seen one bloke but has not managed to get his rego yet he drives a white toyota corolla,Its a real shame as you used to be able to park your car there overnight go for a fish and not have to worry, this bloke mainly seems to target Saturday,Sunday and Tuesday nights.
Anyway went to have a fish but ended up getting harrased by junior snappers, the largest being 38cm they are in plague proportions couldnt even catch a herring without a little snapper jumping on the line all released without harm with words go foward grow large and I will catch you next time.

Bait
If you or any other decent fisher person catches these low life's take them out for bait, you wont catch anything good as fish are fussy as to what they eat ,but the blowies will have them, crape to crape jersey

Know what you mean, but
Know what you mean, but sometimes I think drugs would be cheaper, lol
Perhaps something like this is needed http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fDrzMGdYWZc
Or at least electrified doors
A little less lethal, some car alarm systems have glass breakage detectors, then emit a very loud tone that is unbearable to be around, so the perps dont/cant stay in the area long. Probably would cost more than what you are trying to protect.

Did see the Police Van driving
around at the Club yesterday afternoon (Sunday) they went down to woodie point puiblic ramp then the other side of the club house (groyne area, then down past the road that leads down past Cockburn Cement jetty. Somebody might have rung them regarding break in etc. We have on occasions had break-ins at the Club but mainly Xmas school holidays, but thank god they have been rare.

Another thing to watch out
Another thing to watch out for is snakes at the Woodman point shop, i was in there Sat arvo and a guy says watch out for the snake,,the lady got the young bloke and got it into a box and took it out the back,,,
Maybe put a snake in your car , that would deter the thieves

hotspot!
Ammo Jetty and the Public Woodmans ramp has always been a hotspot unfortunatly, the better weather atm has escalated it. Lack of police/patrols/security doesnt deter!

With the money that has been
With the money that has been spent on the ramp you would think they would have the place better lit or at least CCTV,but I suppose that would take money out of the councilers pockets
Life is short so live it fast

catchalittle if you look at the Boat Shed
where you go into buy food/fuel with your back to CPBA club look up to the left and you'll see a cctv camera that the owners of the Boat Shed have put in at their own expense, not sure if it can see thieves in the car park though, but handy to know if you are unfortunate to be broken into. Apparently a bloke came back from fishing last year and found he had no wheels on his trailer. Terrible
Ryan
The car park/security (maybe cctv) is going to be done when all the infristructure for the proposed new development at the back of the Boat Shed, all that vacant land. Marine Repairs, Boat Stackers etc they did call for submissions, but don't know the results, Government is hoping for money from private investors for carpark think its about $3 million all up?? The road leading to the Club and public ramps is owned by Cockburn Cement and the club want the road fixed but its up to Cockburn Cement apparaently.

yep!
Fully agree, more lighting/security/patrols would be the "Least" i'd expect but nope.....spend all this money on the upgrade but no upgrade in security!

aside from security
a paved car park would have been nice instead of the current goat paddock they have.
Might be worth the hassle of joining the CPBA......
