Will this boat handle Albany
Submitted by dallasthedog on Wed, 2010-09-15 16:42
Here is what I am looking for in a boat:
- Weekend metro fishing between Hilliarys and Rotto
- 2 weeks of the year I will be in Albany and would like to be able to fish 2 peeps and out near the the islands
- Must be able to tow to Albnay with 4wd 2.8 ltr turbo diesel Hilux
- On the odd occsion take off up north and launch from beach.
Would this boat be able to to do those things?
I am concerned that its not big enough to handle the Albanys Southern Ocean.
Any advice would be welcomed about typoe of baot I should be looking for (I am trying to stay under $10k)

two peeps
The boat will be alright at two peoples good for abeach launch,as for the islands maybe gull rock would be your limit unless it was perfect day remember that stretch of water between the islands and gull can get bloody rough.Good for KGs of middleton beach and scooting around Goode beach area.Do yourself a favour and get some wet weather gear and a radio as the sea rescue down there is first class down there, follow the log on log off procedures and listen for the weather updates
There are two types of people ,do'ers and watchers
Right now the do'ers are the doing it
And the watchers are watching us do it

I had a Clark Abalone and I rate them as tinnys. Its a good solid hull and fine for beach launches and ours wan't even really noticed when we towed it on a mazda bt50 3l turbo diesel.
That boat, it belongs to a board member!

hi
i fished down here for a while in a hornet 420 with no issues.almost every weekend i see small tinnys out at bald head and around the islands, two peoples will be fine.
all you need to watch as with everywhere is the wind as it can get quite choppy
cheers
