Wife just bought Sevylor Super Caravelle 4 person boat for me

they were on special at rays outdoors from $250 down to $59

it will do for me and my son and from all looking around they seem strong and have double chamber

also takes a 2.5hp petrol motor or a 18lb electric

i was looking at saving some $$ to get myself a Dragonfly Daylite Paddler Sit On Top Kayak

i know this isnt much of a boat but it would do me for just off the shore to get to where i cant normally fish

Yes, I bought 4 person one. Didn’t think about the oars too much. Got those little adjustable in length – aluminium bar. $20 each. It should do for start. Yeah, I was thinking about the session as well. I guess I will have to get bit more organise. I was LB so far. Should be good fun. Laughing

I've seen the motors for these somewhere before, about 12V and 12lbs of thrust they give.

Does the charge last long? Would they be any good just outside the marina or say around lancelin with little wind?

Just looking at DPI website. Are boats with engine under 6hp exempt from carrying all those safety gear like flares, anchor and life jackets? Or are they considered as any other vessel?

I am planning to put a solid floor on probably 2/3 of the boat – from the front. Mount rod holders on it. With the solid floor I am more happy to put the battery on the front than just on the inflatable floor.  I am also in process of building engine mount. Still deciding on thrust of the motor though.

I’ve got the floor build

Wed, 2010-09-29 11:27

I’ve got the floor build and rod holders mounted on it. Works fine. I took it for a test to Woodman point on Monday, but it was too windy, but I launched of the little beach next to the ramps and paddled out about 20m. Hard yakka against the wind, so I am picking up an outboard today. I also need better pump/compressor, because the one I have doesn’t inflate it enough. Also an anchor is on the list. But so far so good. Will post some pictures soon.

Cost probably 20 bucks to make. Paint being the biggest expense. Around $15 and 5$ for hinges and latches. I picked up some construction plywood on the verge during collection, which was quite good. I am hoping to finish the engine mount today or tomorrow and put 2.2 HP 2 stroke on it which I’ve bought of ebay. And it’s ready to go. Well, I need a stubby holder to fit in as well. Wink
