Whites run
I know its early but with the content on here turning to utter bullshit and complete crap maybe some fishing talk might lighten the mood? I have had my pot in since before the snapper season ended Was getting good bags of crays when my pot was left alone, hitting a spot i like from the past but this year someone was nearby they weren't only pulling my pot but actually stealing my bait can't believe it, but hey shit happens moved my pots still having trouble with them being tampered with but what do you do, by the way fishing same spots last 5yrs and only lost 1 pot before now but at the moment nor stealing my pot just the crays. But anyway all of a sudden crays have dropped off for me making me wonder, my experience with whites is that they always hit on a full moon you may get splurges on a big swell but the main run is around the full moon. Which to me says is it mid November or mid December? Any thoughts. I have also been catching plenty of double shells lately.

Unusual catch in a pot today
Caught quite a number of wobbies in our craypots in the past, but today was a big surprise. Pulling our last pot which has been the best catcher so far and as it comes over the side, we see a big fish flaspping inside. Thouight, buggerr, not another wobbie, but once the pot was steady on the tipper, it was very quickly obvious that this wasn't a wobby. Turned out to be an easily size snapper. Had made a meal already with 2 empty heads in the pot and 1 live cray still there. Had eaten the biggest 2 of course. Bugger, in 4 days would have been a keeper

Definitely would not have
Definitely would not have ventured out this morning if the swell had been up but with low swell and a predominant easterly it was quite an easy run up the coast for us with protected conditions, same coming back, just hug the coast line, take your time and it's easy as. Pretty happy not to be the guys who punch staright out from Mindarie to the 20's, that would be miserable.

Only needed to pull two pots this morning from our 6 and would have had at least 25 crays in each. Spoke to other fisho's at the ramp and seemed to be a bit hit and miss. Mindarie.

almost a duck
Been trying in 10-12m on the reef edges between Carnac and Stragglers, but it has been very much the worst year ever for me.Seemed to have completely missed them, whereas last year was bagging out using same pots and spots. This year 2 whites from 10 pulls. I was doing much better on the reds in November! Nothing today, so moved them out to FFB and fingers crossed

Good info
Thank Brock O, that is good to know. Was catching reds there in November, but only the 2 whites in the last 10 days. A mate dropping in the same general area has caught the same as me. Hopefully today's move out onto the 5 makes a difference, as it did last year for me around the same date. Have been launching in the river, so running out around Stragglers etc has been the closest, but next season I'll be lauching from Woodies and hitting behind GI for sure. Seemed the same pattern last year, with not much between Carnac and Stragglers during the whites run, but GI had plenty both along the 10-12m first, then out on the FFB.

Avoided disgrace
Moved out to 15m on FFB beyond Stragglers on 15th and now have a dozen from two outings including this morning, so I'm in the good books for Christmas lunch. Interestingly 10 of the 12 were reds, which seems to be what Brock O saw when diving in closer around Stragglers.

Moved pots from out near ships anchorage off Bunbury to near the Old Cut then again to about 2nm further north for bugger all so far in the last 5 weeks so giving up the ghost and bringing them in tomorrow. Don't know if any of the other potters are having any success but don't care atm.
Last year was getting good feeds of southerns but no sign of any whiskers only occies and crabs this year from roughly same area.

Lots of big berried females
Lots of big berried females today that normally draw in quite a few straggler whites this time of the run for us but literally just females and undersize reds in the 6 pots.
The whites have dried up in our little area and the place is now completely bombed with other pots and unfortunately the pot pullers are out in force checking everyone's pots trying to get their 8 which makes it pretty hard to get a few days of soak.
Tomorrow will be the last in our area and will move the pots closer to home where we always get a few big reds for a nice new years spread with friends.
All in all a pretty poor year for us compared to the last few years in reagards to overall cray's in pot numbers with dirty cold water every morning and will sound out a few new ledges this summer to try next year as it's been an awesome previous 5 or so years hitting the same ledge and suspect it may be weeded over.

A few in 15
Dropping 2 pots in 15m just on the 5, out from Stragglers. Getting 5-6 keepers each of the last few outings, including the last one 2 days ago, but the majority have been reds. Hope to check them this Thursday but likely pull them unless they are loaded, as obligations for Xmas are done and dusted.

Had planned to move pots but plans changed and did first check in 10 days, no bait but 17 keeper reds from 6 pots with a whole heap of berried females and kakka's released, that's a wrap for another year.
