Which overhead reel to buy

Hi

I am thinking about buying a Shimano Tyrnos 20 overhead reel. Are these a pretty good value reel? Am off to Canarvon/Coral Bay for a few months so I want something half decent..........

                                  Cheers Nev

Hi Nev, Nothing wrong with

Hi Nev,

Nothing wrong with the Tyrnos range for the price...  If it was trolling specific I would go the Tyrnos. If bottom bashing / jigging I would go a Daiwa Saltist - both in the same price range...

Really comes down to line weight / purpose...

But both a great value

can't go wrong...  A mate

can't go wrong...

A mate of mine used one for bottom bouncing & jigging with PE5 braid on it and while not perfect for jigging has pulled in some ripper fish... He since upgraded for the jigging / bottom bashing to a lighter reel, but still uses the Tyrnos as a trolling combo with 10kg on it...

What are you going to use it for and what line do you want to run?

Any reason you were going

Any reason you were going for the 20 size? If you're going braid, you'd be able to fit something like 900m of PE5 on there, over a km for some 50lb braids.

Tyrnos 20

Nev I use my Tyrnos 20 on a LiveFibre Short stroker 15 - 24 kg and it is indeed a really nice outfit to use.

I have actually just decided to sell it to fund a smaller outfit.

Have sent you a pm.
