Wheres the mackies

 Hey all,

Just new to the forums. From what i have seen there have been some great catches. I am wanting feedback from people about how to catch a mack. Types of things im after is braded or mono line, what types of lures and jigs and most of all where to go in the waters around perth. This is one fish that i want to tick off my box but it just keeps eluding me. Look forward to hearing from you.

i got 1 in perth waters on saturday just gone. 23.5 surface temp. 2m+ lures and a witchdoctor :) put in the hours and cover the ground from garden to rotto in 15-35m of water. only takes a few hours to do it and u should get lucky. zigzag from 15-35m doin 5knots and cover as much ground as u can.be patient... stop listening to ppls exact spots and u will proly have more success than them!!!!! all my fish have come from random different spots each time

finally got some ourselves

Thu, 2012-04-19 17:10

wouldnt say im a pro or anything, but after putting in the hours we finally nailed some rotto mackies this season. we started off trolling from parker point to the westend without great result although did get a couple from there. for us most were caught trolling from parker point towards garden island and back behind the bank this season.

we use a bird teaser, and troll different lures each time ,seem to hit anything, but look for bait balls while trolling as there is bloody nothing else to do for hours, then if they r deep use deeper lures. if they r shallow use shallower ones.

hope it helps, but be prepared to troll for hours. personally i dont enjoy it too much, does my head in just watching the rod for hours in the rod holders.

good luck

happy fishing
