3 spot crab
Here is a link with some info on the species, looks to be of the same genus as the blue swimmer crab. Would think they come under same regs. But would pay to confirm.

Wow, never seen one of those
Wow, never seen one of those before.
Where are you getting them?
When asked by a non-fisherman 'how many fishing rods do you really need?' the correct answer is either:
n+1 (where n is the number of fishing rods you currently own); or
n-1 (where n is the number of fishing rods which would cause your significant other to dump you.

I use to catch them 25 years
I use to catch them 25 years ago from coogee jetty, not as big as a blue manner but taste pretty good. We use to catch them at night only
around this time of year.

I actually spotted one a few weeks ago about 25km's off hillaries in 30 odd meters of water splashing around on the surface! Thought that was a bit odd

Used to get a similar crab
Used to get a similar crab over east. We called it a sand crab. Same shell shape as a blue swimmer. Like the one above but without the 3 dots. Another one for Glenn maybe???

Sand crab, look the similar
Sand crab, look the similar to the sand crabs in Busso, except they only have 2 spots. A guy from over east told me they taste like blues, tryed one, good but not as sweet. No bag or size limit.

Three-spotted Crab
Not my field, but I asked and can confirm what a few have said above that it is a Three-spotted Swimmer Crab (Portunus sanguinolentus). Also called Blood-spotted Swimmer Crab.
It is widespread from Africa to Hawaii, including being native to Australia. Apparently they often swim at the surface, especially at night.
