Where can i get my sounder installed. A few dillemas
I bought a Lowrance HDS-5 for the ski but I have a bit of a dillema. As I dont use the ski just for fishing, but also for skiing and surfing, I want to be able to make the actual sounder monitor and transducer removable without too much hassle for when im using the ski for activities other than fishing. Another problem i have is where to attatch the trasducer bracket as I dont realy want to have anything drilled into the back end of the ski.
I'm thinking i might be able to attatch something to the back of the rod holder frame that goes into the water and the transducer bracket can connect to that.
Does anyone have any ideas on how im going to go about this and or somehwere that can install it for me as I'd rather have it done correctly the frst time. I would like to present a bunch of ideas to a fitter and see where we can go from there..
I will post up a picture soon of the back end of the jetski just to give you an idea as to what it looks like.
Thanks guys,
Beau

fold arm
Beau , i would be looking at the bracket that has the swing bracket around the motor just above the bung plug.
If the bracket can be removed you can then manufacture a right angle bracket that goes down to the bottom of the hull and the transducer can sit in clean water under the bung plug
if you design it right it should be quick removal for when your shi ing or have wing nuts and allow the unit to fold up out of the water.
i would need to seee the transducer size to give more info , but i woukd make a bracket that comes down the transom with a large hole to go over the bung plg to allow removal of plug etc

do you mean something like
do you mean something like this?
This is a bracket that I can buy from NZ that screws into the fold down step ladder you can see in my photos. I think this is the way to go but was just wondering if other members had any other ideas..

bracket
Beau , thats pretty well what i had in mind, the other option depending on how big the transducer is , you can get a pole and bracket which when in use the tranny slides down the pole , but as the others have said you will get turbulence from your jet output so you may have to drop it right down to ensure a clear picture

Use an thru hull transducer
use a thru hull then you don't have to take it off each time. less chance of damage and you will get a lot of interference around the back of the ski at speed ...
Mount your screen int he front glove box compartment lid.. buy a second lid to clip in when you remove the screen...

GET A BOAT!!!
GET A BOAT!!!
Do I love fishing, or do I love you?
I know it's gotta be one of the two.
To know the answer is what I'm wishing,
Maybe I'll think of it, while I'm fishing.
