When to join a group

Hey guys
I've been fishing out of Hillarys and ocean reef for close on four years now,and have been looking out deep for the wrecks/barges.The dilema is when do you join a group of boats thinking they are on well known marks?,and when don't you? No one likes a "pinger", especially if you are fishing in the areas you have invested time in finding.

Do you mean when you know its
Do you mean when you know its a known spot (like a wreck) or do you mean when you think its a known spot just because theres 3 boats there?

the bettter point to be made
the bettter point to be made here .... why fish a spot that just got flogged ??
i wouldnt ever go join in that sort of group down here ... odds are they are mates following each other around ... and youll get abused .. and chances are if they been there for more than a few drifts there aint much left in the way of fish so why bother ??

Hey Feral, I understand your
Hey Feral, I understand your point but I have to say, I just don't get this attitude (not meaning yours Feral) of abusing another boat because they pull up at "your" spot. I have some spots that I like to go to, but they are in no way "mine" and if somebody else arrives or is already there so be it.
That said, if I was approaching said spot and others were already there, I would keep going. Plenty of fish in the sea (sorry, couldn't resist!)

keep moving
if you dont have those well known spots or wrecks/barges keep on driving, on the other hand if you know for example that the two boats in the distance are fishing the Derwent then join in

If it's marked on the charts
If it's marked on the charts , it's fair game.
If not , then no go
If I spent half as long fishing , as I do reading this bloody forum , I'd be twice the fisherman I am.
