When do Mullas start appearing around the metro area? Have never targeted the big ones b4, would be keen to meet up with someone and learn a thing or two sometime.

Dunno how many will be pulled
Dunno how many will be pulled from the river this summer, I reckon atleast 20 to 30 15kg plus mullas came from "a spot near the swan river mouth" through aug and sep and may be still turning up there (I havent been targeting them of recent). Live or fresh bait seems to be the go so if you choose a spot and there is bait fish around its a good start. One of the harder species to target I reckon, I thought for sure I was gunna get one after seeing 2 15kg plus mullas landed in the first night I went to this spot, but 7 nights and only one suspected mulla hook up (broken mainline on 'that' snag that took 5 rigs prior grrrr) and no success yet. I will be targeting them in areas further up stream as well now, Im still a big mulla virgin (caught soapies) and cant wait for my big mulla hymen to get broken.

Going by the amount of
Going by the amount of Mulloway caught last year and this year alone in the swan(which imo is due to the water temp) , would give it 5 years more before they would be hunted to tiny numbers again.

Check these forums dude,
Check these forums dude, there are posts showing fish that were landed when I was there, many other fishos arent forum members or dont post pics, the less people that know, the less chance of rubbin shoulders with fishos at popular spots.

HISTORY REPEATS
history tells me (LOOKING IN PAST DIARIES) SEPTEMBER is my start for mulloway aound we hunt them solidly most the summer.
I know they there all year, It's just more comfortable during the summer months.
IF you're on your "P" plates a good place to start is the wharf E-shed,look for bait schools in the water, catch livies use a 2 hook snell and a lot of wieght, best time is the top & bottoms of the tides. ( ALL BIG FISH THERE - NO SOAPIES )
Once you've got one there head up river, Blackwall reach, Chidley point, Mosman bay, out on Pt. Walter, Narrows, PERTH forshore, ETC..
I also found that with a bright moon the fish are more independant & with no moon go where there is artificial light around
CHECK CHARTS WHERE THE DEEP WATER CHANNELS ARE - THESE ARE THE MULLOWAY HIGHWAYS
PERTH LOCAL BEACHES -
I recently went out on the PRO sardine boat to SWANBOURNE DRAIN and there we caught 3 ton of sardine and 6 mulloway 20kg plus (all released)
so i know for fact they are there...
DO YOUR HOMEWORK - CAN'T STRESS HOW MUCH YOUR BAIT MATTERS!!! - GOOD BAIT = GOOD FISH
Then once you've done the bait thing step it up and try using soft plastics,
BECOME A MULLOWAY KING
STILL KILLING INNOCENT ANIMALS FOR FUN

thanks noddy, that pretty
thanks noddy, that pretty much sums up evrything! Im planning to give E shed a go when my brother gets back from work, one question tho, how do people land big fish there, seeing as its a long way down to the water? i dont have any sort of gaff (and wouldnt want to use one anyway as i plan to release; if i ever catch one).
btw my (other) brother used to work on a sardine boat out of freo harbour, used to come in next to the old endeavour shed. is that the same one?

go to getaway outdours and
go to getaway outdours and for about 30 bucks you can get a 9ft extendable gaff only way to land one there mate.
unless your lucky and you are on the end and can bring it to the rocks still hairy though just try gaff it in the mouth wont cause to much harm to the fish then release/swim it from the end rocks.
hope this helps mate
to fish or not to fish is that even an option?

Long gaf reqd, otherwise
Long gaf reqd, otherwise climb down the ladder if you only got a short one, Id hate to try pullin 15 kg and myself up a ladder. Mullas tend to be pretty much dead once there landed there and dont release well especially if taken from 10 plus meters deep anyhow, so I wouldnt feed the sharks.
