Whats up with Purple

Hi all,
After a few weeks of trolling along out on the 30m contour nearby Mandurah,
I have caught several different species of fish, mainly on the purple lure.
I have posted some of the images.
5 of the Bonito's in the Esky was caught on the purple lure.
Whats up with purple?

Purple, black, dark blue - all the same and very effective in the wash.

Marlin, big yellowfin, wahoo, mahi and even a couple of dogtooth.

My neighbour just bought a purple turbo'd RX7 - both his and my wife hate it (it also has a pineapple shooting loud exhaust)
I told him it was a girls car and he should have bought a V8...
Dark blues and purples tend to be good for bluefin tuna due to matching pilchards/foodsource. That would be part of my guess.
Were the other lures run further back from the wash/teaser?? Both the boat wash and teaser (obviously) can attract fish which may be a factor.

Spread Setup
We had 5 lines out in the spread,
We were trolling on the outriggers 50m Silver Jellybabe Skirt, 40m a jet head (purple,black and red), then in the wash at 30m we were running a P-Line Predator Broken Back Silver Yellow Redhead, and at 20m a P-Line Predator Broken Back purbple lure. Shotgun we had a Koolie Minnow LL130 (whitelady). The teazer was out at about 18m.
Most of our hookups were from the lures running in the wash and the occasional hookup on the jellybabe.
Still looking for bigger bluefin, biggest we have caught is around 3kg on the 30m contour SW of Dawesville cut.

bonito hit any colour,
bonito hit any colour, doesnt matter lol. But yes, as has been said, Purple works very well in the wash. Thats why the 502/506 colour in richter soft grassys or the midnight purple colour in the polu-kai tail pipes and the like are dynamite for sailies, in close. General rule (i have been taught), is dark colours like purple or blue in short, throws off more shadow. Brighter colours like 46/46 are great out long/wide or run shotgun style.

The next time im out, ill be running purple and dark blue in the wash, ill try the bright colours as mentioned above.
I will update how that went, it wont be this weekend as the weather is not that gr8 this weekend.

My wife's favourite colour is purple....
I've tried trolling her, but cant set (I was going to use another term) the bait runner (no!) enough!
Maybe I need to Tuna, she's not efishecent enough.
OK, I find pink and purple skirts work well - jeez - anyone want to buy a well used shovel LOL
