What rope for craypot?

What is the best rope for craypots? Just ordered some rope online from Nsw thinking it was popypropylene. When it arrived the tag says PE which i assume stands for poly ethylene? From what i've read on internet most prefer poly propylene rope for craypots but i am unable to find any info if poly ethylene would be good as well? Any pros o cons? Cheers luke

It should be fine.

We just get second hand rope from the cray boys or tackle shops.

Good luck with the crays and let us know how you go.

When does the season start over there?

Cheers guys, put my mind at ease. You are not allowed to use cray pots in Vic on a recreational licence. I only use em in SA during our annual holiday for 3 weeks. Season start some time in November but i will be there over Chrissie and a couple of weeks in Feb. thanks for your help.

 Usually couta heads bought

Usually couta heads bought in boxes from a local co-op. But any oily fish scraps work well. Normally put my pots in around 10 to 15 meters of water, but this year will try a little deeper, hence additional rope needed. Will see how we go.

I am sure that other guys

I am sure that other guys would have more experience, but it all depemds on the spot ie. is it in a protected bay or out in the ocean and subject to big swells, i would thinksomewhere   around 15 to 17 meters should be plenty enough. You don't really want 10 meters or more of rope floating on the surface. If it is too long just tie it up.
