hey guys i'm new to the site and just wanted to ask a quickie if anyone can help.
I'm in the market for a new rod to use off my boat, i'm not that much into the technical side of things, but thats what im here for. Can anyone recommend a good one or maybe point me in the right direction with some tips what to look for?
I've got a travertine TRB55 reel.
Cheers

Welcome to the site stacer
What sort of budget do you think you will have and what sort of fishing do you plan to do?
There are so many good rods out there, but it is easier if someone here can point you to the rod that will suit you and your budget.

cheers mate, i was hoping
cheers mate, i was hoping for around the $100 mark, but honestly I am not too fussed because payday is fast approaching! I'm not exactly sure what I am fishing for at the moment because i've spent most my fishing life off the beach so boat fishing is new to me.
at the moment I have a 2.4m ryobi cobra that ive had for donkeys. Its served me well but I thought it was time for an upgrade.

I'll second that. Good all
I'll second that. Good all round rod for everything out of a small boat. From squid to whiting, to skippy, to pinkies. Fine for plastics and can work small jigs. Can get them at a discount from oceanside (and even more so during sales, so would get closer to range)
Though, whether its the most appropriate will depend on what you want to do with it and the style of fishing you like (and the type of rod). E.g. if I picked one rod for everything, thats what i'd get, but then i like chasing whiting, and thin graphite jigging rods. I dont like ugly sticks, but they are good for some people, so worth looking into if you dont know what rod you want (i.e. dont want full graphite). Hmm, i feel kinda weird suggesting a non-graphite rod :S. Depends entirely what you want it for (graphites better nearly all the time :p)
Cant say i've ever heard of the reels. What line do you want to put on it, and what species do you want to target?

Although great rod for the price but the reel maybe a little large for it.
Perhaps look at a Shimano Starlo Stix Duo Jig rod.
5'6" rated to 15 kg line and only around $100.
You can also look at Ugly Stiks, Silstar Powertips and many others. Best to drop in and look through what suits you best.
