what fish would do this?

hey all

was out of mindarie and we were sat on a small lump in about 30 meters

two of us were fishing with 2 snelled hooks on 40lb mono traces (off 2 droppers) . saw a lot of activity on the sounder and dropped down. never felt a bite but winding in the rigs , the bottom hook had been neatly cut off as though somebody was down there with scissors. (no dive boat around Foot in mouth) this happened to both of us. re rigged and happened again , so i upgraded to 80lb , and same thing. no bite felt, absolutely no chaffing on any part of rig , just a neatly snipped off bait.

i was thinking bloody NW blowies but would be interested to hear what everyone else thinks.

If I spent half as long fishing , as I do reading this bloody forum , I'd be twice the fisherman I am.

leatheries tend to feed

leatheries tend to feed 'upwards' so you don't feel a bite.
